Two Seconds of Beach

I'm a student at AnimSchool, in the Character Animation program. This was the last assignment I had to do for my first class. I thought it'd be fun to light the scene and render it.

If anybody's been following my posts, they could tell there's a common thing going on. Yes, I want to go to the beach and enjoy some warm weather! This winter's been rough in Chicago...

Crystal Planet: a work in progress

I've been playing around with the idea of a blue planet made of rock crystals. I did a 2D mockup at first in Photoshop, to get an idea of what I want, and then I started modeling it and adding textures.

It's still a work in progress, but here's what I have so far...

A nerd's heart is in the outer space

I have been doing some new stuff in the last 4 months, which has me pretty excited. I finally picked up 3D animation for good and I am thrilled to have a very mini short movie in the works.

There will be aliens, and spaceships, and planets, and nebulas, and stars, and even maybe dark matter...who knows!

I've always been fascinated by the shapes, lighting and colors found in deep space. A few days ago I went to the Adler Planetarium to watch a couple of shows for inspiration. Highly recommendable!

Anyways, here are a couple of screens as a sneak peak.
